STONE BLUFF — Donald Eugene "Gene” Eacret, 77, Stone Bluff, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2006 in Provena United Samaritan Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. He was born March 23, 1929 in rural Williamsport, the son of Claude and Florence Edith (Bell) Eacret. He married Ruth O. Young Sept. 13, 1952 in the Attica Free Methodist Church. She survives. He was raised near West Lebanon, attending West Lebanon High School. He had lived in Stone Bluff since 1955. He formerly worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica and later as a machinist for Tee Pak Company in Danville, where he worked for 26 1/2 years, retiring Jan. 8, 1993. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Army. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #3318 of Attica. He had attended the Stone Bluff United Methodist Church. He was an avid woodworker. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two sons, Samuel David (Sharon) Gritten, Attica and Robert Everett (Joyce) Eacret, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a grandson raised in the home, Donald Edwin Eacret, Stone Bluff, four sisters, Marilyn Scott, Williamsport, Pearl (Jesse) Hutts and Patricia Kirby, both of Attica, and Catherine Abernathy, LaFollette, Tenn.; eight other grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur and Richard Eacret; and two sisters, Flora Cunningham and Janet Murphy. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastor Stanley Hicks officiating. Burial was in Osborn Prairie Cemetery, near Stone Bluff.
